The Nursery Curriculum

The Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidance is used as a framework for planning learning activities.  We plan for children to learn through structured play involving them in first-hand, practical and meaningful experiences.  Children learn in individual sessions with staff, in small groups and in large groups, depending on the activity.

Key areas of learning experience are identified:

The Nursery staff assess every child’s learning in each key area. This helps staff to plan appropriate learning activities to help each child’s progress towards the Early Learning Goals.

'All About Me' booklets built up in collaboration with parents, incude photographs and records of the child's achievements. the child's 'All About Me' booklet gives valuable opportunities for the child, the parents and the nursery staff to celebrate the child's achievements at both home and school. When the children move into the Receptionclass, recent assessments are passed to class teachers. The 'All About Me' booklet goes home for parents and children to keep.
