Ethos
We have a caring ethos, aiming for all children and adults to feel valued and involved. We aim for self-discipline, tolerance, honesty, trust, and fairness. Our approach to behaviour management is positive, based on high expectations, fostering self-esteem, giving increasing responsibility, recognising and rewarding good effort and good behaviour from all children.
We believe in partnership with parents to promote good behaviour, keeping parents informed.
- We give new parents a copy of the Anti-Bullying Policy and the Golden Code.
- There is an agreed system of rewards and sanctions.
- In sanctions for misbehaviour we make a distinction between serious and more minor offences.
- We believe in listening to children.
- We take firm action against any form of bullying.
- You may ask to see the school policy for Positive Behaviour Management.
Our aim is that all children are happy in school and that any problems or concerns are handled sensitively. Teachers are available after school for parents to consult.
Our School Council, with two elected members from each of the oldest classes, meets regularly to discuss issues raised by children and decide what the school can do about them.
The lunchtime ‘Buddy’ system operates daily on all three playgrounds. Our Year 4 ‘Buddies’ receive training sessions throughout the year on organising games for others and helping children to integrate into playground life.
